Protection

Given the likelihood of the bike rattling itself to bits, how do you prevent your expensive camera equipment doing the same? Good question.

In my case I had rummaged through my extensive collection of old computer boxes (both at home and at work) and found various blocks of foam. A little handicraft session with a sharp knife (yes, I did have an adult present) and I have some camera shaped holes in foam blocks together with foam bases and tops in my tank bag which have everything about as secured as you can expect on a motorbike. It does waste a lot of volume but that's a small price to pay.

Other people carry their compact cameras on their person which seems fine although I get a little bit nervous about have compact camera shaped holes appearing in my chest should I take a tumble.

In both cases, the camera is readily accessible whilst sat astride the bike.
