Hotel Kahraman,Van,TR. Lots more military bases (with actual sentries) on way to Tatvan, almost none since (except odd Kommando base!). Locals very proud to be Kurdistan! Lots of police in Van incl heavy duty (ie. Army style) riot vans-TV showing lots of trouble across TR due to referendum today. People here seem fine-no hint of tension. Media hype again? Efes (beer) harder but not impossible to find. Tub of Vaseline melted in bag today. Lots of gooey stuff. Great.
