Having seen advertising in Morocco, Turkey, Syria, Jordan, Iran (can't recall in PK) and now India, advertising (and here the TV movies, general programming, perhaps less so) is the domain of fair skinned people by which I mean to all intents and purposes, white. I just asked the staff in the bar and they understood me but were not concerned. There is an oft repeated tale that the richer you were the less time you had to spend (slaving) in the sun but that doesn't add up. There's even advertising here for a cream to make you whiter (which prompted this).
