Tourist Hotel,Zahedan,IR. 15:20. The 3rd escort (a whole 6km from the hotel) took my passport. 5hrs later the 9th gave it back with 70km to Z. saying "go, speed, danger, very fast" Noting that they'd given up the escort and that the squaddies in the backs of utes were largely asleep I perceived there was less danger than advertised so I grabbed some pics en route and ran a checkpoint-catch me if you can! Police on outskirts of town surprised to see me alone but let me through. Z. seems OK but I think I'll stay in the hotel. X'ed 60deg long.-driven 1/6 way RTW! ~14500km.
