Currently in Thimphu,BT

My Bhutan experience is a bit hampered by having to spend two whole days (of six) traversing the Phuntsholling road although all the roads are twisty-turney and getting anywhere takes forever. Of the Bhutan I've seen, I've seen a lot of temples and several dzong (fortresses) and they become a bit same-y. Those here for longer I think will get to do more trekking which, given the hilly nature of the place, may or may not be a good thing. They will, however, be out and about in the beautiful countryside something I could (and indeed have) spent all day staring out of the car window at. Those here for a very long time may get the chance to head way out east and get considerably more rural.

When I've had the chance in the countryside I've gone for a wander and the people seem very friendly across the piece, old folks (almost certainly no education) will smile and wave from under their stack of firewood through to little kids yelling hello (or, in one case, goodbye!, much to the amusement of his mum).

Bhutan, top!
